Hiking

Kobarid is offering a perfect starting-point for all those, who likes the mountains and want to see this beautiful valley from a little higher perspective. Kobarid is surronded by numerous hills and mountains, which are interlacedwith mountain ways. The highest peak is Krn, which is reigning with his 2244 meters and is offering to mountaineers a lot of possibilities for longer tours. For those less pretentious, there are in the proximity the mt. Matajur (1642m) and Breginjski Stol (1673m). 

Kobarid is offering a perfect starting-point also for short walks bySoča river or nearby hills. For all those, who are interested in history, can walk after the traces of First World War. The Kobarid was infact the witness of one of the most famous battle on Soča front, and the remains are till today, like silent witnesses, spread around nerby hills and mountains. For all amateurs of history and nature is recommended a walk on The Kobarid historical trail.

Water sports

The emerald Soča river gives the town of Kobarid an additional beauty. For all those, who want to spend an active vacation, there are noumerous opportunity to try in Kobarid. You can know closley the Soča river in raft or mini raft, for more genuine touch, you can try the kanu or kayak. For the most genuine contact with the emerald green rapids, there is a hydrospeed for you. If you need even more adrenalin, try the canyoning, where you will jump over the waterfalls and into small pools, and overcome the streams of Sušec, Mlinarica, Fratarca, Pršjak or Mrzli potok. As you can see, there are numerous activities to choose from.

Fishing

Fishing is the most popular tourist activity in the region; the local fishing association manages over 145 km of waterways, with navigation allowed only on the Soča. All other rivers - Nadiža, Tolminka, Bača, Kneža, Koritnica, Idrijca and Trebuščica - are reserved exclusively for anglers.

A Slovenian poet Simon Gregorčič, named the emerald green Soča river "Bistra hči planin (The clear daughter of the mountains)".

The Soča river is full of life in her vivid rapids and peacefull deepness. Only here can fishers from all the world catch the endemic Soča trout (Salmo Trutta Marmoratus). 

The Soča trout was the only species in the past that lived in these waters. Now there are lots of its crossbreeds found in the Soča. The fishing season is open from 1.4. till 31.10. 

Paragliding and hang-gliding

Kobarid, is located in the Soča valley, which is known in the world for it's advantageous conditions for flying. Paragliding is fast growing sport here because of such good flying conditions. The combination of the sea, which is distant only 50 km and various terrene on the north (Julian alps - Triglav national park) create ideal paragliding for beginners ant those with more experience. Starting points Stol nad Breginjem (1000 m), Kuk (1248 m) and Kobala (1080 m), make possible beautiful panoramic jumps over the Soča valley or long "cross country" flights in Julian alps. For those who doesnt fly and would still like to see the world from above, there is a Tandem Paragliding availabe with experienced paragliders. For landing you can use two landing spots in Kobarid (234 m) or Tolmin (200 m). 

All starting points are accessible by a car, you can fly up to 2.900 m, advantageous thermal conditions allow XC flights in the direction of Italy, Bovec or Bohinj. About quality of the region is giving evidence the fact, that in the last three years, there took place numerous national championships, world championship and Euro cup.

Bicycling

Bicycling is especially in the summer the most pleasing sport, which can take care for your helth. You can combine bicycling with short or long pleasure trip in the nature. Enjoy on fresh open air adn beautiful countryside.

There are numerous possibilities for riding a bike in the neighbourhood of Kobarid. Different kind of roads on near hills allows you a turistic trips or wild adrenalin downhills wit mountain bikes.

Vicinity of Kobarid. There you can enjoy in different adventures with a guide. Horse riding in the nature on the most beautiful clearings and hillsides, overcoming obstacles and distances, to ride in a coach.

Possibilities for terrain riding are uncounted. Kobarid with Soča river and her sandbanks, nearby fields and forests offer excellent possibilities for field trips and relax in the nature on horse back.

Laziness on the sandbanks of Nadiža river and Soča river

Kobarid is situated in beautifull valley created ba rivers Soča andNadiža. The Soča river with her beauty has charm many visitors, because offers, beside adrenalin water sports on her rapids, a pleasing refreshment in the summer days. Her sandbanks are full of visitors who desire peaceful and cool refreshment in emerald green hug of Soča river.

The Nadiža river is a popular watering place, because in the summer it's offers in her crystal-clean pools temperatures between 22 and 24 degrees Celsius. For access to the Nadiža river there are available parking spots, where you can leave your cars.

On the opinion of many visitors are the holidays spent by the Nadiža or Soča river much better that holidays spent by the sea.

Golf

For golf enthusiasts there is a wonderful golf course with nine holes available.

Existing 10-year-old playground, which had three holes, was modernized and expanded, so that offer a game on nine holes. As the first in Slovenia introduced the game with five different teeing area. Teeing areas are set by the USGA standards, according to knowledge of the players. Thus, men and women using three different teeing areas. Such a layout of the teeing areas allows an easier game for beginners, and more challenging and interesting game for good players and professionals. In this way, bringing together five different modes of play in a playground, which cover the entire spectrum of players.

World famous designers to the domestic courts are involved in the renovation of the golf course derived from the natural configuration of the ground directly below the highest Slovenian ski centre Kaninh, so that is built according to demanding standards.
